Award (plaque, money, recognition, where presented, etc.)
There are two awards, one for a graduate student paper and one for an undergraduate student paper. The graduate student paper winner will receive $500, a poster presentation slot to present their paper at the NCFR Annual Conference, and a plaque. The undergraduate student paper winner will receive $100, a certificate, and will be invited to present an overview of their paper at the student affiliate breakfast meeting at the NCFR Annual Conference.
Application Criteria
Graduate student award
- Must be a graduate student
- Must be a member of NCFR
- Must be a member of an affiliate council
- Must be an undergraduate student
- Must be a member of an affiliate council
Nomination/Application Process
Judging Criteria for Papers
- Uniqueness of research question (topic must be relevant to families)
- The degree to which findings contribute to the field
- Clarity of writing
- Good application of family theory
- Comprehensive literature review, building upon previous work
- Sound (empirical or meta-analytical) research methodology
- Application for practitioners and/or promotion of further research
Deadline for Applications
Application deadline is May 1, 2013. All materials may be submitted electronically to Allison Wickler at allisonwickler@ncfr.org. The winner will be notified by July 31, 2013.
