Annual Conference Program Chair-Elect

The Annual Conference Program Chair-elect of the National Council on Family Relations serves a two-year term, one year as Conference Program Chair-elect (2014-2015), proceeding to Program Chair the following year (2015-2016), and planning the 2016 conference program for Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Member of the 2015 and 2016 Annual Conference Program Committee
  2. Select the 2016 Conference theme no later than spring 2015.
  3. Select a theme from input from NCFR members, studied in both research and applied fields, and of interest in the city/state/region in which the conference will be held - Minneapolis, Minnesota.
  4. Make financial commitments that are within the budget provided by NCFR Headquarters.
  5. With the assistance and input from NCFR staff and members, identify plenary speakers for Conference - due by summer 2015.

    • Speaker criteria
      1. Broad appeal to NCFR membership
      2. Well-known expert on topic
      3. Excellent public speaker
      4. Solid research base on topic
      5. Will make application of research and policy
      6. Reasonable speaker fee

 6.  Work with Conference Program Consultant to prepare the call for abstracts for the 2016 conference

 7.  Write articles for the NCFR Report
