Cindy Winter Scholarship Award (S/NP)
Purpose
To honor a student or new professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership/service in the discipline of family studies. This biannual (odd years) award is given in recognition of Cindy Winter, NCFR's Conference Director from 1964-2007.
Award (plaque, money, recognition, where presented, etc.)
A monetary award in the amount of $250 to be used for travel expenses to attend the NCFR Annual Conference, a complimentary NCFR Annual Conference registration and a plaque will be awarded the selected applicant biannually (odd years). The award will be presented at the beginning of a plenary session.
Criteria
- A student or new professional who has been an NCFR member for a minimum of one year.
- A student or new professional who shows potential for leadership excellence within NCFR.
- A student or new professional who demonstrates leadership in (1) organizing conferences or organizations (e.g., professional workshop, graduate student conference, department student organization, etc.); (2) give presentations/workshops at national, state, local, and departmental conferences; and (3) sustaining membership in national, state, local, and department organizations that focus on promoting the discipline of family studies.
Nomination/Application Process
- An applicant may submit their own work or may be nominated by others.
- An applicant must fill out the application form.
- An applicant must include a letter explaining (1) what leadership qualities the applicant has demonstrated within NCFR, state, local, and/or departmental organizations; (2) why the award is important to the applicant; and (3) how the applicant meets the criteria.
- An applicant must include a total of two letters of support from colleagues or professors.
Deadline for Applications
Application deadline is May 1st. All materials may be submitted electronically to jeannestrand@ncfr.org. The winner will be notified by July 31st.
