Education & Enrichment Section

The National Council on Family Relations, the NCFR Sections, and the Affiliate Councils have established modes of appreciation to recognize those individuals/groups that further the interests of the organization and/or exemplify the standards to which members aspire.These are distinguished colleagues who have unselfishly dedicated themselves to working in the family field, and have given outstanding service. NCFR provides a vehicle for honoring these people through its Awards program.

Margaret E. Arcus Outstanding Family Life Educator Award

This award honors the remarkable contribution made to family life education by Margaret E. Arcus during a long and productive career and recognizes the efforts of family life education scholars and practitioners to advance the field of family life education through research, theory, practice, and training.

Ernest G. Osborne Award

The award recognizes excellence in teaching of family studies and distinguished service to families through teaching at any level. The award is given in memory of Ernest G. Osborne, three-time NCFR President, and Professor of Family at Teachers College, Columbia University, who excelled in innovative teaching methods. To recognize and encourage outstanding teachers in the field of family studies. To recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and excellence in the teaching of family relationships.

Student Proposal Awards

The award is to recognize the quality proposals of students and encourage them to submit proposals to the Education and Enrichment Section. The award increases the visibility of the Education and Enrichment Section and provides motivation to become involved in the section.
