2012 Outstanding Student/New Professional Paper Award

"The Impact of Arizona's S.B. 1070 Immigration Law on Utilization of Health Care and Public Assistance among Mexican-Origin Teen Mothers abnd their Mother Figures"
Purpose:
To recognize outstanding professional achievement by awarding an award to the best student or new professional paper.
Award (Plaque, Money, Recognition, where presented, etc.):
The award winner will receive a $200 cash award and a plaque. The award is presented annually at the Family and Health Section Business Meeting at the Annual Conference.
Criteria:
- The applicant must be either:
- A student who is seeking a degree in family studies, family sciences, human development, public health, nursing, psychology, sociology, or lelated field, or
- A new professional wo is a professional graduating in a field of study related to NCFR's mission and working in the field for less than five years.
- The applicant must hold a current membership in NCFR and the Family Health Section
Nomination/Application Process:
- A notice will be sent to all Family and Health Section members by August 1st each year announcing the opportunity to submit a paper for award consideration.
- Each APA format paper will be submitted via email attachment. Acceptable formats include Microsoft Word or PDF.
- Only scholarly papers will be considered. Scholarly papers are considered research, professional reivew, theoretical development or critique, or presentation of new methodology papers.
- Published papers may be considered. These must be prepared for blind review by the author(s) prior to submission.
- For submissions in which the student/new professional is a co-author, a statement of the applicant's contribution to the paper provided by at least one co-athor must also be provided. This statement should be submitted via separate email from the co-author(s) to the Chair-elect.
Deadline for Application:
Application deadline is October 15th.
