Fall 2011 MNAFEE Professional Development Workshops
Approved for CFLE Continuing Education Credit (6 Contact Hours/.6 CEUs)
The Fall 2011 MNAFEE Professional Development workshops will be offered in conjunction with the release of the Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework: A Comprehensive Guide to Planning Curriculum for Parent Education Programs. Seven workshops will be offered around the state focused on supporting the work of parent educators in ECFE, School Readiness, Head Start and other early childhood programs through the use of the Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework. Parent Educators and other educators who regularly work with parents will better understand how the framework:
- Informs the practice and defines the body of knowledge associated with the field of parent education,
- Identifies the intended content and objectives of parent education in Minnesota,
- Provides a planning tool for development and delivery of parent education curriculum and lesson plans,
- Provides guidance for parent goal setting in parent education,
- Guides assessment of parent education outcomes, and
- Is being effectively implemented in programs around the state.
Regardless of your experience in the field of parent education, this workshop will help you understand recommended procedures for using the Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework to improve your teaching and outcomes for parents. There will also be time to work with other parent educators around the state to see how the PE Core Curriculum Framework is being implemented and used.
Workshops will be presented in seven locations across Minnesota from October 18 to November 22.
