CFLE Kristy Jones named as Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Kristy Jones, Crestwood High School Family Consumer Science teacher on her award from the Ohio Association Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences (OATFACS) as Teacher of the Year. The purpose of this award is to recognize teachers who are providing outstanding career and technical education programs for youth and/or adults in their respective career fields and communities. Recipients of this award must have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs that are serving to improve and promote career technical education.
Kristy Jones is a National Board Certified Teacher, Certified Family Life Educator, Master Teacher, mentor, school leader, author, and Adjunct Professor at Ashland University. She recently accepted a position on the OATFACS Conference Planning Committee where she will play an integral role in providing professional development for Family and Consumer Science teachers of Ohio. She has presented at numerous speaking engagements and workshops within the Crestwood Local School District, across Ohio and in other states.
Kristy has been teaching for 37 years, 36 of these years at Crestwood High School. In addition to teaching the Family Consumer Science curriculum, she is a co-teacher of the CHS Student Leadership program, and is developing curriculum for a new class in Personal Finance. Kristy also opens the CHS doors to the community with the annual Halloween Carnival which is always very successful and free to Crestwood community members. Her involvement as a teacher in the Crestwood Local School District has impacted the lives of many students and families. Congratulations and thanks to Kristy for her years of service to Crestwood Schools.
