Julia Malia, Ph.D., CFLE Awarded CFLE Emeritus Status

Dr. Julia Malia has been awarded CFLE Emeritus status in recognition of her work in teaching and research relevant to family life education. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in a variety of marriage and family courses at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Dr. Malia has worked in mediation and substance abuse prevention/intervention and has authored a number of training manuals and materials, most notably a student manual for Peer Helper/Basic Helping Skills Training and a companion Facilitator Manual that lays out instructions for 24-contact hours of training. She has also authored many journal articles dealing with family stress, rituals, community intervention training and family conflict and mediation.
Emeritus status is an honorary status awarded annually to a small number of retired CFLEs who have made significant contributions to the field of family life education. Emeritus status recognizes the awardees' continued commitment to the field and life-time affiliation with the CFLE program.
