Student Information

Each year hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students attend the NCFR Annual Conference. Special options make this experience more affordable than you might expect. The regular student conference fee is just $75 if you are an NCFR Student Member.students photo

• Take advantage of this great opportunity to learn from the best researchers, teachers, and family outreach professionals in the country.
• Make friends for life. Members tell us that because they attended the conference as students, they made professional and personal contacts that they maintained throughout their careers.
• Learn more about career opportunities, graduate school options, the Certified Family Life Educator credential, and job search options coordinated by NCFR.

Register for the conference using the link in the left margin menu, unless you are also planning to apply as a student aide (see below).

Student Aide Option
Sign up to volunteer for four hours as a student aide at the conference and you pay one-half the student registration fee. If you work eight hours, you will receive a refund of that amount (eight-hour assignment options may be limited.) Allow four weeks to process refunds after the conference. Students typically assist with event set-up, registration, exhibit booth staffing, hospitality room staffing, distributing materials, and assisting speakers. You must apply as a student aide first, then you may register for the conference using the reduced-price option.

Hotel Accommodationsstudent group 2
The 2009 NCFR Annual Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport. A limited number of rooms are available at the student rate of $105 a night (single to quad occuancy, plus tax). Preference goes to student aides, but space may be available for student attendees who are not working at the conference, also. Regular conference rate is $139. Rooms are limited to four occupants. NCFR will assist students in finding roommates to share rooms. When you are accepted as a student aide, you will receive instructions about how to book your room. Sorry, you may not reserve student-rate rooms online or by phone.

If additional student-rate rooms are available after requests have been filled for student aides, those rooms will be made available to students registering for the conference who are not student aides. Proof of current enrollment is necessary.

Career Center
Be sure to visit the NCFR Career Center at the conference. You can review postings in family education and family professional careers and search by job type.
