Bethel Seminary–San Diego

Department of Marital & Family Therapy

About the Program

Last Updated:
September 21, 2011

This BBS (Board of Behavioral Sciences) accredited program is specifically for students who want to seriously integrate seminary level training in biblical and theological studies with their emerging clinical theory and practice skills. Our practicum students gain 500+ hours of clinical experience in over 30 hospital, agency, hospice, and ministry related clinical settings. Our students form a rich age, denominational, racial, ethnic and socio-economic diversity which mirrors the San Diego and Asian Rim social contexts of which we are a part. Almost all courses are offered between 4:15 and 10:00 PM for the convenience of our many students who work. Though most of our graduates find immediate employment as MFT Interns as the next step in becoming licensed MFTs, some are using their advanced training and knowledge to augment their ministries in a variety of church, missions, and other parachurch settings. This degree also prepares students for doctoral work in MFT.
