Pfeiffer University
About the Program
The Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Pfeiffer University is offered on two campuses at both the Charlotte and Raleigh/Durham locations. It is designed to prepare family therapists and agents of change to work specifically with individuals, couples, and families in a wide variety of work settings. The mission of the Marriage and Family Therapy Program is to provide effective clinical and academic training to students who affirm the dignity and integrity of all individuals and who demonstrate respect for diversity through life-long learning and the competent practice of marriaage and family therapy. The program is intended to meet the academic and experiential requirements for licensure as a marriage and family therapist in the state of North Carolina, and to prepare students for the Examination in Marital and Family Therapy (AMFTRB).
In collaboration with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), the MFT program on the Charlotte Campus received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy (COAMFTE) in November, 2010. The Raleigh/Durham Campus will seek COAMFTE accreditation in January, 2013.
Pfeiffer's Marriage and Family Therapy program on the Charlotte Campus is one of only three programs in North Carolina accredited by COAMFTE.
