Oklahoma State University and the Oklahoma Geriatric Education Center are working together through a consortium partnership to enhance the professional practices of health care professionals, aging-care providers, community members, and social service providers.
This NCFR member, sitting in a coffee shop, made a few observations about an older couple sitting nearby-observations on caregiving, on aging and on her field of medical family therapy.
Based on the Love and Logic approach, this book is written for parents, caregivers and medical professionals. Learn essential parenting skills to raise children to be as happy and healthy as possible. Increase the odds of medical adherence, effectively talk with children about their health challenges, avoid power struggles over self-care issues, and create loving, respectful relationships.

The “Juntos” program (pronounced: Who-n-tos) provides Latino parents and youth with knowledge and resources to prevent 8-12th grade students from dropping out and to encourage families to work together to gain access to college. This experiential program is taught in either English or Spanish and meets for 2½ hours once a week for six weeks in the evenings. Juntos also uses success coaches and college age-mentors to provide weekly afterschool clubs and activities with the target students before and after the 6-week program. The program brings together partners from Cooperative Extension, high schools and local community colleges, youth and their families, and college-age mentors to learn how to succeed in school.
In last week's film, we watched "Molly Grows Up" a film about menarche. This week's video is a boys' film that may also be useful in the classroom to demonstrate sexuality education in historical perspective. "As Boys Grow" is a film from 1957 explaining the wonders of puberty to boys.
