Purpose:
The dues-paying Members of NCFR are the moral and legal owners of NCFR in whose interests the Board acts. The purpose of the Board, on behalf of the members of NCFR, is to see to it that NCFR (a) achieves appropriate results for appropriate persons at an appropriate cost, and (b) avoids unacceptable actions and situations.
Activities:
- NCFR Board Members are responsible for the overall governance of the organization on behalf of all NCFR members.
- NCFR Board Members should be willing to work within the NCFR Board Policy Governance model that the Board has approved, which emphasizes the Board’s role as articulating vision, setting priorities, and monitoring staff performance.
- NCFR Board Members should take responsibility for maintaining contact with the membership and reflecting the needs of all NCFR members.
Time Commitment:
Except as otherwise stated herein, NCFR Board Members serve a three-year term. The President, the President-elect, Association of Councils President-Elect, and Student/New Professional will serve two-year terms. Board members attend two or three face-to-face Board meetings per year, along with regular conference call meetings and email exchanges. Each Board member is expected to be an active participant and attend all board sessions.
