1942 & 1943 Annual Conferences cancelled

NCFR cooperates with Offices of Civil Defense & Transportation

The Annual Conference:

Pearl Harbor hurled the United States into World War II in December 1941. By 1942 this country was fully involved. NCFR's conference that year had been scheduled for December 28-30, 1942, with the theme of "Marriage in War Time."  In cooperation with the U.S. Offices of Civil Defense and Transportation, the conference was cancelled in order to keep train travel reserved for the military troops. May 21, 23, 1943 was the new scheduled date of the conference. However, that also was cancelled. The next conference was not held until June 18-20, 1944 in Chicago.

During this time NCFR, individual members, and the state and regional affiliates concentrated their research, meetings and efforts on war and its affect on families and children.
