Variability in Pretest-Posttest Correlation Coefficients by Student Achievement Level

State assessments are increasingly used as outcome measures for education evaluations, and such evaluations generally use pretest scores as control variables. The correlation between the pretest and outcome (posttest) measures is a factor in determining, among other things, a study's statistical power. This report examines variability in pretest-posttest correlation coefficients for state assessment data on samples of low-performing, average-performing, and proficient students to determine how sample characteristics (such as achievement level) affect pretest-posttest correlation coefficients.

Family Life Education Materials Quality Assessment Tool (FLEMatQAT)

This Quality Assessment Tool was designed to help family life educators and others who work with families to judge the quality of written and online materials aimed at families. It guides the user through an analysis of the content and construction of the materials. It focuses on factors that can be assessed by examining the materials themselves. It guides users through a four-step process to assess informational pamphlets, newsletters, booklets, and online articles; magazines; trade books; curriculum guides/workshop outlines; and Web sites.
