On November 1, 12 participants, 28 audience members and 2 Skypers participated in a Focused Dialogue, Parenting and Family Life Education and the Affordable Care Act.
According to the American Red Cross (ARC), most people who survive a cardiac emergency are helped by a bystander. In this important video, ARC tells the story of an older gentleman saved by CPR administered by his son and a bystander in a grocery store. The American Red Cross has a YouTube channel with helpful videos on CPR, natural disasters, preparedness and all kinds of vital information. Are you up to date on your CPR training? Disabilities-acute and chronic, visible and hidden-are a fact of life for a significant number of American families. According to a July 19 report from the U.S. Census Bureau, 51.2 million-or 18% of the population-have some level of disability. In this issue, we explore how individuals of all ages and their families deal with disabilities on a daily basis, and we look at systems that support their efforts.

Priestly could have been writing about advances in medical technology, which have consequences that are often miraculous - and sometimes disturbing.
