Guidelines for Submissions

Members are invited to submit their stories. Use the web form to give us a summary of your story first. We will respond with instructions on how to submit it and any observations related to content. Here are the guidelines:

  • You must be an NCFR member to share a story.
  • Your story can be either personal/anecdotal, about your own experience as it relates to family, or it can be professional/informative, about your study, teaching, practice, or research.
  • Topics that are not acceptable include (1) anything purely commercial, such as a product or service you sell; (2) a review of your own book.
  • Travel stories are acceptable if the topic relates to scholarly or professional work or service to others, your organization, or your country (including military).
  • Autobiography and memoir are acceptable if it relates to how your career or family life impacted each other or how your life has given you a unique perspective in looking at an area of family studies.
  • Describing a mentoring relationship and recognizing a mentor are encouraged. (Get permission from your mentor first.)
  • Submissions are selected for posting solely at the discretion of the NCFR communications staff.
