Research on the division of labor in families remains one of the most popular topics in the work and family literature, perhaps because negotiating "who does what" in families remains a hotly contested topic. This collection of papers furthers the literature on the division of labor by paying attention to social contexts (e.g., social class difference, race and ethnic differences, work conditions) and life course differences (e.g., new parenthood, families with school aged children) as they influence patterns of family work.  In addition, all the studies use unique, longitudinal, dyadic designs that address the dependency inherent in family work patterns.
