Family & Financial Stress: Links to Educational and Occupational Attainment

Presented by: Brenda J. Lohman

Utilizing three panel data sets and employing advanced statistical modeling in each paper, this symposium propels the field forward by simultaneously addressing how the influence of biopsychosocial individual and family stress influences ethnic minorities' educational and occupational expectations and attainment in late adolescence, particularly for those whose families are suffering financial strain. A renowned discussant will utilize his expertise to provide a comprehensive critique of the three papers presented as well as how these papers advance the field from a theoretical, empirical, and applied perspective.
