Training Competent and Confident Therapists and Interventionists to be Effective

Presented by: Margaret K. Keiley, Ashley Jackson, Kimberly Gregson, Ali Zaremba, Cassandra Kirkland

In individual, couple, and family treatments and interventions, we want to foster permanent change in clients and participants. We also want to train therapists/ interventionists to be competent and confident in these practices. Training that focuses on helping therapists/ interventionists manage physiological arousal will ensure that our goals of permanent and effective change for clients and participants and confidence and competence for therapists/ interventionists will ensue. During the workshop, we describe, illustrate, and demonstrate four foci that form the basic framework for how we implement therapy/psycho-education that is effective and train therapists/ interventionist who can be effective, competent, and confident.
