Overturning Florida's Law Prohibiting Gay Men and Lesbians From Adopting- Video Recording

In 1977, in the wake of Anita Bryant’s “Save Our Children” campaign, the Florida legislature amended Florida’s Adoption Act to prohibit gay men and lesbians from adopting children. After several unsuccessful attempts in state and federal court, in September of 2010, the Third District Court of Appeal affirmed a trial court ruling finding the adoption ban unconstitutional under Florida’s Constitution.
