Presented by: Catherine McKeown, Scott Ronis, Gilbert Parra, Lisa Jobe-Shields, J.D. Smith, Thomas Dishion
Although family assessments have been widely developed for research purposes, their use in clinical practice is limited. This symposium will provide data on practitioners' use and knowledge of family-based assessments, highlighted examples of assessment tools, evidence for how family assessments can be integrated into treatment, and directions and recommendations for expanding family assessment use in clinical practice. Three talks will be included: "Current Knowledge, Use, and Training Practices of Family-Based Assessments among Mental Health Practitioners" "The Assessment of Family-Related Emotion Socialization in the Context of Clinical Practice with Children and Adolescents" "Collaborative Family Assessment as a Brief Therapeutic Intervention"
