How long does it take to see peer-reviewed research appear about a specific event? In at least one case, it's been almost 6 years.

New NCFR book club is on!  Over the summer, we are going to be reading NCFR member Richard Settersten's new book, Not Quite Adults: Why Twenty Somethings are choosing a Slower Path to Adulthood and Why it's Good for Everyone.   

You've probably heard of "pregnancy brain" or "momnesia." You know that forgetfulness and loss of razor sharp thinking so many moms (especially academics) experience with pregnancy. Well today I invented a phrase called the "paternity leave brain".

A book review:

Not Quite Adults explains the phenomenon of the lengthening duration from high school graduation and attaining what has been the experience of transitioning to adulthood of the past few decades. Young adults are meeting the sociological markers of leaving home, finishing school, finding work, getting married and having kids in a more lengthy and often reordered way. 

Over 160 people attended the CFLE Dinner in Minneapolis on November 3^rd. The evening provided an opportunity to celebrate the 25^th anniversary of the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) designation and to recognize the people responsible for its success.
