He has served as the Chair of his department, as an Associate Dean of the College of Family, Home and Social Sciences, as Associate Director of the World Family Policy Center, and as Associate Director of The Faculty Center, all at BYU.

The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) has conferred its organization's prestigious Felix Berardo Award for excellence in mentoring to Kay Pasley, Ph.D., the Norejane Hendrickson Professor and Chair of Family and Child Sciences at The Florida State University. The Award was established by the family of the late Felix Berardo who credited much of his success to the devoted guidance of his mentor, F. Ivan Nye.  It was the wish of Dr. Berardo's family that NCFR establish an award to recognize NCFR members who nurture junior colleagues.

The purpose of this award is to recognize teachers who are providing outstanding career and technical education programs for youth and/or adults in their respective career fields and communities. Recipients of this award must have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs that are serving to improve and promote career technical education.
