Special issue of Family Relations on Families and Disabilities

To promote contemporary understanding of the relationship of disability with the development and well-being of children, adults, and families over the lifespan, Family Relations is planning a “Special Edition” focusing on families and disabilities from interdisciplinary perspectives.
I recently learned the importance of communicating with our newer and often younger members when I had the pleasure in May to travel to Portland, Oregon, to the Northwest Council on Family Relations (NWCFR) meeting.
NCFR is looking for three new members of the Certified Family Life Educator Advisory Board. The three available positions for 2013 include two Academic Representative positions, and one Employer Representative position. These positions will be filled through an election by current Certified Family Life Educators.
If interested in running for the CFLE Advisory Board, please complete the CFLE Advisory Board ballot form and return to Dawn Cassidy by October 1, 2012. dawncassidy@ncfr.org
As we look forward to fall, I hope you have our annual conference in your plans. This year’s program spotlights some of the most interesting research taking place in the area of family and religion.
A staple of NCFR’s online communications strategy for nearly a decade has been the use of e-mail listservs to facilitate communication to and among members. We encourage you to make frequent use of them.
At the 2012 NCFR Annual Conference in Phoenix, we are sponsoring or cosponsoring an exciting array of workshops, roundtables, symposia, paper sessions, and posters.
