February is Black History Month
Watch a new PBS documentary on slavery after emancipation
February 07, 2012
A new documentary from PBS debuts next Monday, February 13 titled, Slavery By Another Name. The documentary challenges one of America's most cherished assumptions: the belief that slavery in this country ended with Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. What followed was decades of further exploitation that was slavery in all but its name. The documentary is based on Pulitzer Prize winning book by Douglas Blackmon.
