The Mid-Atlantic Council on Family Relations and the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Messiah College will be co-sponsoring a half day workshop on Latino families on Tuesday, October 18, 1:00-4:00 in Parmer Cinema (Boyer Hall), at Messiah College in Grantham. Dr. Andrew Behnke, Assistant Professor and Human Development Specialist at North Carolina State University, will conduct a workshop entitled, "How to improve the lives of Latino families through effective service delivery and research." A brief description of the workshop includes: Learn ways to do more than simply engage Latino populations and families. Find ways to create partnerships, build resources, edutain, and inspire Latino clientele personally and professionally. Make a real difference even if you don't speak Spanish!

Dr. Andrew Behnke is an Extension Specialist at NCSU and is an expert on family and parenting issues. He just received the 2011 NCSU Extension CoP Achievement Award and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the National Council on Family Relations. He has secured multiple grants to further his work with Latino families, focusing on topics like fathering, parental involvement in the education of their children, and couple relationships among Latinos.
