The National Conference of State Legislatures - Breastfeeding Legislation

December 07, 2010

Breastfeeding is the preferred form of infant nutrition - an opinion shared widely by many professional and health organizations including the American Academic of Pediatrics, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Dietetic Association.  However, according to the CDC, breastfeeding rates and durations still fall short of optimum.  Impediments include workplace obstacles and also the level of disapproval of nursing in public. The National Conference of State Legislatures has pulled together a round-up of the legislation regarding breastfeeding across the U.S. states that address these and other concerns of nursing mothers.
