NCFR Recognizes FLE Month Contest Winners
NCFR is proud to recognize the winners of this year’s Family Life Education Month contest, held to encourage family students and professionals to develop materials that family life educators can use to promote family life education and FLE Month.
The five contest categories and their winners for 2012 are:
- Best FLE Education fact sheet — Michelle Smith, California State University-Sacramento (Professor: Jean Ann Moylan)
- Best tagline and/or logo for Family Life Education — (All from California State University-Sacramento) Tagline: Adrian Jackson, Kayla Ramirez, Michelle Smith, Leslie Rubalcava; Logo: Kendall Beerman, Justine Wilcoxson, Kathy Sengvanhpheng, Nina Bateyko (Professor: Jean Ann Moylan)
- Best list of activities for promoting FLE (two winning entries) — Aldar Nommik, Andrews University (Professor: Alina Baltazar); Leslie Rubalcava (Professor: Jean Ann Moylan)
- Best press release for FLE month — Katrina Brown and Katie Leigh Mardis, Samford University (Professor: Jonathan Davis)
- Best newspaper article about family life education — Brittany Lindley and Allysa Szymanski, both of Samford University (Professor: Jonathan Davis)
NCFR received 63 entries to this year’s contest, up from 16 last year. Each individual student who submitted a winning entry will receive a one-year NCFR student membership; among a group of students named winner in a category, one of the students will be randomly chosen for a membership. The professor of each winning student also received a one-year NCFR membership.
FLE Month, which occurs each February, exists to increase awareness of the value and importance of family life education as a method to strengthen and support families.
NCFR plans to sponsor this contest again next year; information for 2013 should be posted in time for use during the spring 2013 semester.
