PBS has listed its programming for February's observance of African American History month.

For example, check out this fascinating documentary about the "slave songs" - the spiritual.  A man organizing possessions from his late mother's estate found a hymnal of spirituals from 1867. It turns out to be the first collection ever compiled. Scholars who are experts on the spiritual discuss this rich history of African American music.
