Karen Bluth wins the Cindy Winter Award

The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) has conferred its organization's prestigious Cindy Winter Award for 2011 on Karen Bluth, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Child and Family Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The purpose of the award is to honor a student or new professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership/service in family studies, human ecology, human development, family science or related field.

The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) has conferred its organization's prestigious Reuben Hill Award to Michelle J. Budig and Melissa J. Hodges, both of the Sociology Department at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Their article, "Differences in disadvantage: Variation in the motherhood penalty across white women's earnings distribution," was published in the October 2010 issue of American Sociological Review

Kay Pasley wins prestigious mentoring award

2011 Felix Berardo Scholarship Award for Mentoring

The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) has conferred its organization's prestigious Felix Berardo Award for excellence in mentoring to Kay Pasley, Ph.D., the Norejane Hendrickson Professor and Chair of Family and Child Sciences at The Florida State University. The Award was established by the family of the late Felix Berardo who credited much of his success to the devoted guidance of his mentor, F. Ivan Nye.  It was the wish of Dr. Berardo's family that NCFR establish an award to recognize NCFR members who nurture junior colleagues.
