Free Sociology of the Family textbook

This 18 chapter brief sociology of the family textbook was made available to the public free under open courseware license "attribute." Tens of thousands have visited the website and many faculty have adopted it as suggested or required textbook for their students. It includes a glossary and workbook. The workbook contains 90 self-assessments designed to increase self-awareness among students who learn to identify their own personal family traits in the broader social context.

Promoting Recovery and Resilience for Children and Youth Involved in Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare Systems

According to data released by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), children and youth participating in SAMHSA community-based programs who are involved in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems demonstrate improved outcomes after receiving trauma-informed services. This includes reduced behavioral and emotional problems, reduced trauma symptoms, reduced substance use problems, improved functioning in school and in the community, and improved ability to build relationships.

The Dibble Institute

The Dibble Institute is a private, non-profit organization created to promote relationship training for youth, with special focus on dating and romantic interactions. Their goal is to help young people gain the skills essential for healthy relationships now, and successful marriages in the future. They have received several government grants and their programs have been empirically tested and have been found to be effective. In addition, they have won several awards.
