NICHD Research Perspectives Podcast Series

NICHD Research Perspectives, is a new podcast series from the National Institute of Child Health and Development. Each month, NICHD Director Alan E. Guttmacher will talk with NICHD scientists and program staff about findings from their areas of expertise. The series provides a means for researchers to go beyond the descriptions in news releases, to discuss the implications of the research, what the findings may mean for patients and members of the public, as well as what direction future studies might take.

The Dibble Institute

The Dibble Institute is a private, non-profit organization created to promote relationship training for youth, with special focus on dating and romantic interactions. Their goal is to help young people gain the skills essential for healthy relationships now, and successful marriages in the future. They have received several government grants and their programs have been empirically tested and have been found to be effective. In addition, they have won several awards. Some of their programs include dealing with emotions, conflict management, recognizing dangerous relationships, healthy relationships, effective communications, low-risk dating strategies, social and emotional aspects of sexuality, and setting limits and boundaries.

Literacy Begins at Home

Getting Ready for Kindergarten

Behavioral-Developmental Initiatives (B-DI)

B-DI is a project started in 1996 to promote understanding of behavioral individuality among parents and professionals. The B-DI website is intended as a clearinghouse for research and practical information about
temperamental characteristics to be used by parents, students, professionals and others who have an interest in behavioral individuality. Resources include temperament questionnaires and scoring software for use with children and adults as well as books and a newsletter on dealing with 'high maintenance' and 'spirited' children.
