Section listservs

NCFR maintains an e-mail listserv for each Section (NCFR member groups organized around common interests). These listservs provide an avenue for Section members to communicate. All Section members are automatically subscribed to the Section listserv. NCFR also maintains listservs for the Student/New Professional Leadership Council and a listserv for all Student/New Professionals.

Affilate listservs....your local NCFR

NCFR maintains an e-mail listserv for each local affiliate. If your state is part of a state or regional affiliate, you have access to the listserv.

The Family Therapy Section unites members who share common interests, goals, and purposes in marital and family therapy. The Section improves the practice of marital and family therapy through the promotion of: a) open dialogue between clinicians, and researchers relative to marital and family therapy theories, research, practice and training; b) the integration of theory, research and practice; and c) effective, efficient and ethical practice methods.

Feminism and Family Studies Section members work to integrate feminist scholarship and perspectives into theory, research, and applied work with families. Two awards in honor of Jessie Bernard are presented annually to students and new professional NCFR members.

The International Section members generate better understanding of unique variations of family process throughout the world by promoting cross-national family research, facilitating communication among international family scholars, sharing information on current and proposed research projects, and sponsoring educational cross-national family programs, presentations, and seminars.

The Religion and Family Life Section furthers the cause and study of religion and its relationship to the family. The study and examination of the impact of religion on family life is examined as well as the relationship of religion to other family-related disciplines and NCFR Sections.

The Research and Theory Section facilitates research and theory activities in all content areas related to marriage and the family. Two awards are sponsored: Ernest Burgess Award recognizing a distinguished career in family research and theory, and the Reuben Hill Award for the outstanding research article in a family journal.

The S/NP Leadership Council is to strengthens the identity of S/NPs within NCFR, coordinates S/NP communications, organizes S/NP initiatives more effectively, and enhances involvement by S/NP representatives in the sections and student affiliates.

Student/New Professionals include anyone who is a student (undergraduate or graduate) or a new professional (within 5 years of last degree).

NCFR Listserv Policy

NCFR listservs are for the dissemination of information of general interest to members of NCFR. "General interest" can be interpreted very broadly, and at a minimum would include any information from either the NCFR Board of Directors, the NCFR office, or NCFR members that in some way applies to the interests and mission of the organization. Any information relating to events, lectures or activities, either sponsored by NCFR or other organizations, that have a relevance to the members would be appropriate.

NCFR discussion listservs are an open forum for NCFR members to freely share their knowledge and questions. All members are welcome to participate. Lively and candid exchanges are encouraged; however, by joining and using these email lists, you agree that you will comply with the following rules and guidelines.
