News from the Family and Health Section
What an exciting time to be a member of our section. We have embarked on our "Walk to Phoenix" project - a project that will keep the NCFR membership involved all year as we anticipate and prepare for the 2012 Annual Conference with its focus on Families and Health! I encourage all of you to participate. When you sign up, you will be asked to identify your section. For FH section members, be sure to identify our section. Once you do that, you automatically become part of the Family and Health Section Team earning points on behalf of our section. For details and a link to the online form, see http://www.ncfr.org/ncfr-2012/ncfr-walk-phoenix.
Another part of the Family and Health project will be our sponsorship of the 5K Walk/Run to be held as part of the 2012 Conference. Get ready to participate in this fun activity with proceeds going to an organization supporting families in Phoenix!
This is a wonderful time for us to be thinking of special Family and Health symposia for the 2012 meeting. If you have ideas, please contact me so we can work together to integrate some symposia for the meeting.
Abstracts for the 2012 have now been submitted and our review process is underway. I encourage Family and Health section members to make plans now to submit your work for one of the section's two paper awards, the Professional Paper and Student/New Professional Paper.
In closing, I hope NCFR members who are not currently affiliated with the Family and Health section will join our section if you have interests in families and health, defined broadly. Some have asked me if we focus on physical health. The answer is a resounding "No!" We are interested in all aspects of health and family well-being. Come and join us!
