Walk to Phoenix update
Greetings Fellow NCFR Members,
We have had time to calculate our first round of "Walk to Phoenix" data. I am pleased to see that we have a lot of you participating in this conference project.
I thought you would like to have a picture of our data AND that you might want to urge your fellow team members to "get with it."
You still can--and should--register. Just for participating, you will be eligible for prizes based on random drawings...you don't have to be a marathoner to win, although prizes are included for individuals and groups who log the most miles. See links at the end of this article.
As of mid-March, we have:
- 79 people registered for the walk
- 7 individuals have logged over 200 miles since late November 2011
- 38 have NOT logged any of their miles yet . . . we need you!!
- 9 informal teams so far
- 28 registered in the 34 and under age group *
- 27 registered in the 35-54 age group
- 20 registered in the 55 and over age group
Please note: Not everyone registered for an age group so the total does not equal 79. Remember, you can still register for the walk and it is possible to add your age group if you have already registered.
NCFR Section Results
In the lead and marching on is the FAMILY AND HEALTH SECTION (15 members) with 856.7 miles! (No, we're not cheating because we're sponsoring this; we just want a great competition in celebration of families and health!)
Followed by:
- Family Therapy - (6 team members) with 518 miles
- Education & Enrichment - (15 team members) with 437.05 miles
- Research & Theory - (11 team members) with 399.1 miles
- Ethnic Minorities - (7 team members) with 349.61 miles
- International - (3 team members) with 303.99 miles
- Family Science - (8 team members) with 268 miles
- Religion & Family Life - (4 team members) with 65 miles
- Feminism & Family Studies - (3 team members) with 12 miles
- Family Policy - (4 team members ) with no data yet reported
Be sure to update your record periodically...every week or two is best. My guess is these totals will increase as soon as you see the numbers above.
We're off to a great start! I will provide a second report in early June so that you can ready to really work through the summer! Congratulations to all who have logged miles - let's see where we are in early June!
In addition to the data here, we also will report Informal Team Data in June.
Will Family and Health still be in the lead? Come on NCFR sections, get out and walk!
