Family Policy Section News - December 2011
Greetings from the Family Policy Section! We hope all are doing well as the fall semester is coming to a close and as the holiday season is upon us. We would like to take the opportunity to discuss a few things with NCFR members:
We would first like to congratulate and welcome the new Family Policy Section officers who began serving November 2011: Bethany Letiecq, Chair-Elect; Kelly Davis, Secretary/Treasurer; and Diana Baltimore, S/NP Representative. Thanks to the contributions of the outgoing section officers Brenda Lohman, Secretary/Treasurer, and Kelly Davis, S/NP Rep, and the continuing service of Tammy Henderson, the new Chair.
Second, we would like to encourage NCFR members to consider joining our section. Even if your research does not examine specific existing policies, your work can have policy implications for families. This section creates a forum for members with variety of backgrounds to share how their work can inform policy at different levels.
Third, we want to motivate members to start thinking ahead for the 2012 conference and consider submitting your poster, paper, round table, etc. to the Family Policy Section. Topics are not limited to but could include: immigration, workplace, marriage, and welfare policies. The deadline for submitting proposals is March 1, 2012. We also encourage members to become involved as reviewers for the 2012 submissions that come into our section. Look for a call for reviewers in early spring to help in this process. Members sharing their expertise through their submissions, serving as reviewers, and sharing their latest practice and scholarly work helps make the Family Policy Section and NCFR a vibrant organization for all.
