Family Therapy Section News - December Report
At the 2011 Annual Conference, the Family Therapy Section announced Karen Wampler and Richard Wampler as joint recipients of the first Kathleen Briggs Outstanding Mentor Award. Richard and Karen were selected for the joint award from a field of outstanding candidates. Though separately nominated by their colleagues and students, their nominations were merged as letters of support documented both an individualized and a connected history of loyalty, fidelity, and dedication in utilizing their unique talents and opportunities to inspire, guide, and provide many kinds of support to emerging leaders in the field of family therapy.
Their selection honors the memory of Kathleen Briggs, who in her short career set an example of caring, selflessness, and perseverance in her dedication to the personal and career development of others.
