Research and Theory Section News
Greetings from the Research and Theory Section! I hope you all had a very stimulating time at the 2011 NCFR Annual Conference in Orlando. Thanks to the efforts of the NCFR staff as well as all of the conference presenters and supporters, I think the conference was a great success. In this article, I describe several efforts that are underway for 2012.
First, I am working to recruit outstanding scholars to submit proposals to, and attend, the 2012 conference. This has been an ongoing effort for several years, and I'm pleased to report that our conference sessions are getting high marks from observers and attendees.
Second, we are continuing to work on raising funds to support our section awards. Please send contributions to NCFR, designated either for Research and Theory section awards, or for the specific award you choose (the Burgess or the Hill awards). Our goal is to avoid having to reduce the frequency with which we give our awards or reducing the funds available to help award winners travel to the conference. You can help a great deal with even modest contributions. Thank you!
Third, I am just beginning my two-year term as chair and am thus especially eager to hear from you about how I can organize the best possible conference program for our section and help the section to pursue other worthy goals. I am eager to hear from you! Please email me at Thomas_holman@byu.edu. Best wishes for a productive spring term.
