Fall 2024: Coaching as Part of Family Life Education

Parent coaching is a growing field. NCFR wants to hear from CFLEs who are using coaching in their work with parents and families. 

Examples of potential topics include the following and more:

• The value of coaching as part of FLE work
• Your story of how you are coaching parents
• The challenges you have addressed as you support families
• Tips and/or resources that you have found to help you coach families
• How you use data or research to support your work as a coach

Winter 2025: Cultivating Cultural Humility in Family Life Education

Submission Deadline: December 15, 2024

Cultural humility involves self-reflection, an understanding that one’s own culture is not inherently superior, and appreciation of and a willingness to learn from the experiences of people from other backgrounds and cultures with the goal of authentic relationship building. The winter 2025 issue of CFLE Network will explore and expand on cultural humility in the context of Family Life Education (FLE). Articles are sought exploring “why” and “how” Family Life Educators should and can cultivate cultural humility in their work.

Examples of potential topics include the following and more:

• The value of cultural humility as part of FLE work
• Research supporting the importance of cultivating cultural humility in FLE
• Your story of how you are cultivating your own cultural humility
• The successes and/or challenges you have addressed as you support families on their journey towards increasing cultural humility
• Tips and/or resources that you have found to help you in this work
• Differing perspectives on this topic (e.g. student/teacher; program leader/program participant)
