Child and Family Studies (B.S.)
The Child and Family Studies program at Baylor University seeks to improve the quality of life for children and families. Using a preventive, educational approach, the Child and Family Studies program prepares students for applied practice with children and families supporting holistic development within a systems theory framework. In partnership with the Piper Center for Family Studies and Child Development, our NAEYC-accredited lab school, students observe and engage in developmentally-appropriate best practices in child development and family life education.
The Child and Family Studies program offers a foundational core curriculum in child and family studies and four concentrations by which students specialize in a content area:
The Child and Family Studies curriculum prepares students for a variety of professional settings and graduate programs. Child and Family Studies students are eligible to pursue certification in Family Life Education (CFLE) through the National Council on Family Relations and the coursework preparation for certification as a Child Life Specialist through the Association of Child Life Professionals.
