The Family and Consumer Sciences Education option at CSUN provides a background in FCS Education coursework for students wanting a broad FCS educational background or to pursue a teaching single subject credential. FCS Education students who wish to pursue a Home Economics credential must seek subject matter clearance by completing passage of the CSET.

The curriculum provides a comprehensive background in child development and guidance; family living and parenting education; consumer education; housing and interior design; food and nutrition; textiles and apparel design and merchandising; individual and family health; and leadership.
