Family Science (B.S|B.A.)
This discipline provides focused learning on family dynamics and systems in preparation for human services or other related employment, or graduate school work in family studies, marriage and family therapy, and education. It includes studies of: family law, parenting, marriage, human development, family life education, human sexuality, and other areas all leading up to an internship where students can gain practical work and graduate school experience while developing lessons and teaching family life skills in the community.
Many family science programs, like Utah Valley University, are affiliated with the National Council on Family Relations. Students can join as student members. Graduates find themselves skilled as ethical teachers of family members from all walks of life and many diverse family contexts. Many family science programs will provide ample opportunity for students to prepare to enroll in master and doctoral programs and to obtain human services employment in private and governmental agencies.
