International Pronouns Day

October 16, 2019

International Pronouns Day seeks to make asking, sharing, and respecting personal pronouns commonplace. NCFR member  Luca Maurer, MS, CFLE, CSE, is a member of the executive board that worked to create this event.  From their website:

Referring to people by the pronouns they determine for themselves is basic to human dignity. Being referred to by the wrong pronouns particularly affects transgender and gender nonconforming people. Together, we can transform society to celebrate people’s multiple, intersecting identities.

International Pronouns Day is recognized on the third Wednesday of October each year.

Individuals and groups are encouraged to participate in grassroots activities that they determine at the local level. To get involved, register on the official website to receive occasional updates. Ideas and tools on how to participate will continue to be updated as the campaign develops.
