Webinar Series, Part 1 of 4

Approximately 80-90% of school-aged children in military families attend school in their local school district. Students and their families face unique circumstances related to military service and individual educational needs. A variety of education and family support professionals exist on the military installation and within local schools and communities to provide tailored support for a student or family’s specific needs. To do that successfully, these professionals must communicate, collaborate, and engage with one another, students, and families.

This webinar series will focus on the skills needed by professionals working with military- connected students ages 5-22 and their families to successfully collaborate with one another, engage with families, and leverage military and civilian community resources to support each family and their individual needs.

These free webinars are easy to join and offer continuing education credits. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions, but it is not necessary. Webinars are recorded and archived for later viewing if live attendance is not possible.

The first session of the Collaborative Connections series assists participants in understanding the points of contact for differing educational services and the roles of those service providers in Department of Defense schools and local civilian schools. Discover the differing levels of engagement key collaborators take in students’ day-to-day experience and overall educational careers.

In this webinar we will:

  1. Consider how adult professional partnerships impact student services across the lifespan.
  2. Identify school-based personnel roles and responsibilities.
  3. Learn techniques to connect with each member of the service team

Approved for 1.5 hours of CFLE continuing education credit.
