Translating Face-to-Face Family Life Education Programs into Virtual Settings
The COVID-19 pandemic brought the challenges of online education into headline news and everyday conversations. This included numerous stories on the obstacles faced by educators and students to successfully transfer face-to-face programs to a virtual setting. With the necessity of online educational experiences, it is important that Family Life Educators are also able to overcome these obstacles, meet the increasing demand, and provide high-quality learning experiences in a virtual setting.
Join two Family Life Educators as they walk through their process of translating face-to-face parenting education curricula into virtual settings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The presenters will share their experiences, offer tips and advice on important factors to consider when building an online program, and discuss the importance of intentionally integrating activities that help to build a sense of community in an online learning platform/environment.
Participants that attend this webinar will learn how to thoughtfully transition face-to-face content to online learning environments and build community/connection in live online learning environments. Participants will also learn about the importance of creating a sense of community in virtual experiences and explore ways to do this in their own online experiences.
By the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:
- Overcome common challenges when teaching online;
- Transition face-to-face Family Life Education content to online learning environments; and
- Build community/connection in virtual learning environments.

About the Presenters
Kylie Rymanowicz, M.A., CFLE, is a content developer at Hatch Early Learning, a company supporting children and teachers to close the achievement gap through educational technology. Throughout her career in the field of early childhood, Ms. Rymanowicz has served children and families as a preschool teacher, a parent educator and an extension educator at Michigan State University providing community education on parenting and child development. She has a bachelor’s degree in child development and psychology and a master’s degree in family life and youth education with a concentration in parent education.
Kendra Moyses, M.S., CFLE, is a senior extension educator with Michigan State University (MSU) and has provided leadership on a variety of programs that center around families, children, and youth during her 15-year career with MSU Extension. Ms. Moyses provides programming support in early childhood development by facilitating the Building Early Emotional Skills online workshop series. Her program areas of expertise revolve around early childhood development, supporting military families, and youth and educational technology. She has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education, and M.S.A. in administration and leadership and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in educational technology.
