The Lamar University Master of Education Degree in Counseling and Development - Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling will prepare you for your career and certification as a counselor. The degree emphasizes the Coordinated School Health Model in Texas and the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model. You will be trained to work with children, adolescents, families and integrated care with community school partnerships.

As a professional counselor, you will be able to care for patients with relational, behavioral, and social/emotional problems using preventative measures.

When you graduate from the Master of Education Degree in Counseling and Development - Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling program, you will be eligible for multiple credentials with a focus on child and family issues. The coursework aligns with national and state credentials for you to become a National Certified Counselor, Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas (and other non-CACREP states).
