Racial Stressor and its effects on Black heterosexual Spousal Support

Effects of racial stressors adversely affect couples ability to provide relational and emotional support to each other. Data for this study are from a larger study of 700 African American married couples in their early years of marriage, examines the effects of racial stressors on couple relational support.

Objectives

1. Participants will be able to articulate the relationship between racial stressors and relational support for Black couples. 2. Participants will be able to examine the effects of racial discrimination on Black couple’s perception of self and partner. 3. Participants will be able to identify strategic skills to strengthen the relational support of Black couples.
