The Theory Construction and Research Methodology (TCRM) Workshop is a longstanding tradition within NCFR. Research works in progress are reviewed, discussed, and strengthened in this unique, interactive environment, which is held on-site at the NCFR Annual Conference.

NCFR and TCRM organizers are pleased to have Dr. Thomas Bradbury presenting a special session at TCRM this year, sponsored by the University of Maryland's Department of Family Science. High-quality theorizing and theory-driven questions are foundational to quality family scholarship. The best intervention work should also be theoretically driven and ideally accompanied by excellent evaluation and basic research. Dr. Bradbury will discuss his work and the importance of theory for both basic and applied scholarship.

TCRM papers are unlocked for registered TCRM participants only. Log in to the NCFR website (at the top of the page) to access the papers as a TCRM registrant.

What does a TCRM paper session look like? It features work in progress rather than finished products. Before the session, authors of accepted proposals have submitted their manuscripts and TCRM has solicited comments from leaders in the field who have agreed to be discussants. The TCRM paper session is not a presentation; it begins with discussant comments, followed by author responses to the comments and an informal conversation in which the audience participates in discussing the papers, theory issues, and methodological questions.
