2 NCFR Members Tapped to Lead Their Departments

April L. Few-Demo

April L. Few-Demo, Ph.D., has been named the head of the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Virginia Tech. In 2018, she began a year as the interim head and was also promoted to full professor. Her responsibilities have included budget, fiscal, and personnel management. Dr. Few-Demo has been teaching in the department since 2000. Her areas of research focus include feminism and family studies, intimate violence, and racial/ethnic identity. At NCFR, she served two terms on the Board of Directors, first as a Students and New Professionals representative, and then as a member-at-large since 2017. She has also been a member of the Elections Council and Inclusion and Diversity Committee. Read more about Dr. Few-Demo's new role.

 

Paul Springer
Paul R. Springer

Paul R. Springer, Ph.D., will serve as the interim chair of the Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln while a national search is completed. He has served as an associate professor in the department since 2013, and had also taken on the role of interim associate dean for academic affairs. In addition to chair duties of overall leadership, fiscal management, and personnel administration, Dr. Springer will continue three jobs for the dean’s office: chair of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, chair and ex-officio of the Graduate Executive Committee and he will continue leading the enhancement program for professors of practice.
